Rather than bitch about the extending wait... (13.5 months currently but who's counting, oh yeah and that little birdie called the CCAA casually mentioning over appetizers while in Australia that 18 months is quite 'possible'), today's post is a tribute to some friends and family.
First, A and D (see the post below) were gracious enough to host us for the weekend, torture us, I mean expose us to the world of 3 children AND they gave us incredibly thoughtful and beautiful gifts for us and Magpie. One of their daughters also quizzed us over and over on what names we might chose... while she lobbied delicately for others!!! Thanks so much for the beautiful dragon and wonderful book that I can't wait to devour on insight into sayings, proverbs, thoughts in China and the incredible illustrations (I can feel a book review coming on) but also for the cool gifts for Magpie. (does anyone out there recognize the gift bag and where it's from? Only the BTDT should know!!!!)
Next, to K and R, at every stop on their whirlwind west coast trip a few weeks ago they picked up postcards for Magpie's growing collection. They even picked up ones from Baltimore, Albany and so on as they wound down their trip on the east coast. Most of all, we love the postcard with the wildflower seeds in it. We piced one of these up from Alaska a few years back and sent it to my mom. We can't wait to plant them. But these flowers are more beautiful, called Chinese Houses. Thank you SOOOOO much for staying involved, for caring about our journey to Magpie, not just about the destination. Caring about the journey is what's really missing for us with many.
Last, but NOT least, to E's Nana. She sent us an incredible wish and fabric square for Magpie. It's been wonderful to see the thoughts and wishes that others in our circle send to us. From Nana was a paisley fabric because Paisley is a small town in Scotland where her grandfather was born. She hopes that when Magpie is older we take her there to see more about the Scottish Heritage. This was a beautiful sentiment, Nana, Scotland is on our list. One day we will make it there.
