Dearly beloved,
We are gathered here today, to honor a temporarily great and powerful checking account.
A checking account that faithfully enjoyed our hiatus while we lived, relatively bill-free (ok, yet to be reimbursed for 10 weeks of living 'bill-free'... ah, corporate red tape) at the Not-so-Holiday Inn.
A checking account that stood beside us, in good times and in bad.
A checking account during 'richer' days (relatively speaking that is, we're not talking B. Gates or even upper class here folks!)... but richer is what it feels like to have no mortgage, electric, internet, phone bills...
It has departed into poorer.
We finally made our first, and far from last, mortgage payment.
To you oh great checking account we bid adieu... perhaps we'll see you again on the other side of the mortgage highway of life.
Signing off for tonight... poorer, but it's finally "officially" ours... to pay off for the next 30 years.
It's quite fitting that tonight we dine on Kraft Mac n Cheese with soda... while last night, pre mortgage payment we dined on Chicken Parisiene with a bottle of wine... let the middle class times roll folks!

Congrats! The bank acct may weep but their will be much cheering in yor home.
Keep smilin!
My greatest sympathies. The reality of your new house is setting in. It's a good thing that you are able to get used to writing that check now instead of after shelling out all the rest of the dineros for Magpie. We have to find a bigger house, probably next summer, so sticker shock is certainly in our future. And, with me not planning on working full time after, DH is very scared. LOL, He'll survive and it will all work out in the end.
I hope all is well with you both and your house is really starting to feel like a home. Can you pleaaassseee come over and help us get our tree up and decorated???? We haven't even gotten the boxes out of the attic yet. Dh isn't looking forward to this since he has to shouler more of the work this year, but I'm thinking of asking a couple of neighbor teens to assist. They are always looking for reasons to get away from their folks for a little while.
Hope you have a good week,
Your April Secret Pal
Ah, yes....we joined the same club this summer with the purchase of our very first home. Welcome once again to the world of Ramen Noodles and Easy Mac:)
Welcome to the club!!! I only have a mere 26 years to go on our mortgage. I can retire a the young age of 75. Oh but I am forgetting putting a child through college. Okay I can retire at 98, Whew at least there is an end in sight.
