Creatures and Pals

First off, I found these two very different creatures in our yard last week.

The spider from hell located on our hose reel and the (I think) buckeye moth (conveniently found on a pack of stamps in our car for postcards...)

One of them eventually left on it's own accord, one was sort of assisted into the next life -any guesses which one?

Hint: It's not the one with wings.

This month Magpie received some awesome gifts from her Secret Pal, lots of cool play stuff for her to use at the beach, one of the many lakes nearby, or perhaps the sand box where we made plaster of paris 'things' last week? Many of the items things that we were thinking of getting her, but just never did as the wait is gone from long to tortuous and it's hard to buy the fun stuff right now, so we're glad she did.

Either way, we've been lucky to be matched with a fantastic pal, one that goes out of her way to find things that we like and that we're sure Magpie will like. Also, I count myself among the lucky that we've had our pal the entire time, while many many have come and gone around us. When the matching ends, our front porch is going to be pretty lonely eh?

Thanks Pal, you're the best.

I can't get beyond that spider...I'll have to work up my nerve and come back later. Spider dude is nasty.

We had a 4 1/2 foot garter snake living right outside our sliding glass door! Yikes! It felt like we had our own snake aquarium. We had a nice snake catcher man take her back to his yard. He was so excited because it was one of the biggest garter snakes he's been able to escort to safety. He also told us that she is expecting! We would have had like 40 little ones in our yard in August!!!!!!!
On the topic of your SP (secret pal) -- Wow -- your
Secret Pal rocks!! What adorable gifts.
