Random Rumor Generator

MAny people who's blogs I read have banished the thought of reading one more awful rumor about the Great Wall of Slow Downs going on in Chinese adoptions. The rumor is now that waits will be longer now than any previous period, including the doomed SARs slow down.

So I thought I would create a:

Magic 8 Rumor Ball

Instead of answers like "could be" or "it's possible" or "ask again later", it will have answers to the question we anticipate as time marches slowly on during what's predictied to be the next Great WAit.



"So, do you know when you'll go to China... Have you heard anything... when will you get your referral"

We will, upon being asked this question, or upon thinking it ourselves pull out our Magic 8 Rumor Ball and ask the it the question. Answers like this will come up:

No predictions are possible, ask again later

12 months from LID

It's a secret, what's the password

6 months from LID

On the eve of the 8th full moon of the year

18 months from LID

During the hottest, most humid summer on record

When we get too old to qualify for the program

Right after we get pregnant (as we all know, adoption causes pregnancy!!!)

And my favorite...

Ask again in 2 months...

We will shake and swirl and toss that Magic 8 Rumor Ball again and again, till we get the answer we want... but it still won't be right because as everyone knows, in the wonderful world of adoption only the past is predictable, the future is wide open for rumors, speculation and inquiry.

It is a need to know culture and we, as adoptive parents, qualify for the "do not need to know" category. As such, you, our loving family and friends are even further outside the knowledge ring!

So we better get a Magic 8 Rumor Ball made of foam cause I think we're going to be beating that poor thing against a wall.
