1. Signed up for a DTC Yahoo group Quilt Square swap.
2. Picked up a few yards to fabric at Joanne's to use for the swap.
3. Picked up all the craft supplies I'll need for the memory/wishes cards that go with the quilt swap (likely I'll have to create about 75-100 by the time it's over).
4. Blogged, of course!!!
5. Made plans for a brunch at the end of the month with my Mom and friends, we're finally telling my Mom, she'll be the first person we tell (of course, references, our employers and the guardians know!!!)
6. Made plans for a yummy rice/cheese/chicken/veggie casserole.
If you're wondering what this Quilt thing is, here's the skinny on it:
To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth, along with a note/wish on a 3"x5" or 4"x6" card for the baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part of the cloth can go into a memory notebook attached to the wish for the child. 
The quilt contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.In the coming weeks, we'll send out a note to everyone we know inviting them to contribute a square, at that time we'll also post instructions here on our Blog in the LINKS section to the left.
It will also be fun to trade squares with other families online in addition to our own group of friends and family outside of adoption, which is where ITEMS #1. #2 and #3 above came in!
Check out this website and look at some of the cool links. The 2 pictures above are of someone else's quilt, this is the style we plan to use, yellow on one side, dark blue on the back. One is a large quilt, Queen size and the other a 'cuddle' quilt for the child. We hope to be able to do both.
