Today marks our 5th Wedding Anniversary.

5 years ago today we celebrated our love for each other in a very private, very peaceful, nearly perfect ceremony at the Excaliber in Las Vegas Nevada. As I wrote about in this post below a few months ago, this first wedding of ours was the official one.

June 1st Anniversary!!!!

It's the wedding that's brought controversy to how, when and with whom we chose to share it with. The wedding marking the beginning of learning to compromise, to collaborate, to get a handle on the Big Picture that is life. The wedding we cherish for the peace we shared. The wedding easy to organize, plan, pay for (lol) and most importantly, to enjoy. Though we cherish without a doubt the decision to have a big family wedding bringing together people we wouldn't otherwise see, and who might not otherwise see each other, it wasn't easy to plan or really soak it all in and be able to enjoy :)

So on this day 5 days ago, we exchanged vows. We exchanged a piece of our hearts for this lifetime and we've not taken our commitment lightly. Those vows have been tested through more heartbreak than some families ever see, but they've also experienced some incredible highs too. At least we've learned, that our bond, our love can withstand everything outside of us -the strongest storm, the darkest nights, the deepest doubts, the harshest critism. It's ok, for isn't this some of the fabric that marriage is all about? It makes the good times incredible, the valleys overcomable and the bond undeniable.

To have and to hold,
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
(better and worse... sometimes it's internal to your relationship better and worse... sometimes it's external and you can't change it, you just move on past it!)

For richer, for poorer,
(ok, so we've not been 'poor', but we've struggle with money at times, infertility really kicked our ass)

In sickness and in health,
(sickness and health huh? who knew how much sickness, surgery, even death we'd face and overcome together)

To love and to honor,
Till death do you part.

That's kind of the point of marriage huh?
