the new (DRAFT) rules

Soooo, by now most in adoption land have seen the DRAFT rules. Nothing is official and these could end up being CCAA Guidelines, which is worse than a rule because it will depend on the person who is reviewing you, at that instant, as to whether they apply or not apply the rules... reminds me of my distaste for the way it's done in Russia, up to the judge in many cases to rake you over the coals or disqualify you on the spot.

word on the street has it that it's for dossiers received after 5/1/07:

1. Married couples only.
2. Singles eliminated from the program.
3. Couples must be married >2 years, with no previous marriages.
4. Couples must be married >5 years, if either were married previously.
5. No more than two previous marriages will be allowed
6. Healthy parents only -so, thi is ambiguous, we'll see, could mean things like infectious disease, or mental issues like depression or anxiety, general disabilities, hearing, sight issues, cancer etc. If there's no hard fast rule this will be difficult to understand.
7. BMI under 40.
8. Age range for SN is now 30 to 55 years old.
9. Age range for NSN is now 30 to 50 years old.
10. One parent must earn an income, ie, can't live off of assets... no lottery winners allowed!
11. Income requirements seem to be the same.
12. Net assets >$80,000
13. no more than 4 children already, not included the adopted child.
14. Youngest child in the home must be >1 year old.
15. High school degree or higher for both parents.
16. No criminal record.
