13 Months

And time keeps right on ticking, same speed as it always has since the start of, well, since the start of time. Our Dossier has now been logged in 13 months, that's quite a bit of dust it's likely got too.

But the CCAA, the processing of Dossiers... not quite the same pace there folks.

This months referrals cover a whooping 6 days of waiting families, that is if you don't pay attention to the fact that TWO of those SIX days processed were uhm, weekends? So really, they processed 4 days of referrals. Another banner month.

Let's see, in the last 90 days they processed 2 days of families one month, 6 days of families the next month and uhm, 6 days this month. So, in 90 days, the CCAA has shortened the line in front of us by 14 days. All I'm going to say (do the math if you must but drink something afterwards to take the edge off), there are exactly 6 months of Dossiers in line in front of us... that's approximately 180 days... @ 14 days processed for every 90 days that passes...

Pleaes note the picture to the right, downloaded direct from the CCAA website. It states everyone up to and including Nov 7, 2005 has a referral and everyone with a Dossier dated earlier than March 31, 2006 has had all their paperwork reviewed and now waits to be matched.

For our families wondering what this means... We have not had our paperwork reviewed yet, 13 months and they just might be dusting off the cover on our folder at this time. Our friend MIke called me today and we chatted about a lot of things, toward the end he said, Hey, how's the adoption going... to which I replied, oh man, slower than molasses from a tree in winter. Definitely not one of those warm southern winters either.

On a lighter note, NO ONE guessed even remotely close what the paper mache thing I was making was. I'm sure you can tell that from the pictures below. What you can't see is the 'hatch' on the 'back side' that you lift to remove fortune cookies. My engineer returning from a 6 month assignment in China loved it. It's not every day you can put you hand and wrist into a pigs bum and pull out a fortune by the way.

(it was supposed to be a Pinata, but you would have needed a chain saw or big heavy sledge hammer to break it open! That's what happens when an engineer makes a crafty item... a classic case of overdesigning. And for those of you wondering 'why a pig?', it's the year of the pig silly)
