Well, first there was that quote I said a year or two ago about some people don't leave footrpints behind, they leave soulprints. Very poetic and conjurs an image of the people who've done that in my life. And now?
Remember, you heard it here first. Believe me, this quote is gonna rock decades from now, when I'm dead and gone, like a famous artist or something like that. Anyway, enough with morbidity.
People are like eggs.
Magpie, your mom is not crazy, she's just too deep at times. But hang with me a second the theory is simple and makes sense. Whether an egg is hard boiled, soft boiled or raw inside you cannot tell by looking at it. You can only tell by rolling it, shaking it or dropping it. And therein lies the problem... you may not know how soft the insides are until you break the outside.
People, are like eggs in that you cannot judge the merits or contents of a person's inner workings by looking at the bookcover, or in this case, the shell. Sometimes the ones that seem soft and pliable are in fact hard boiled and steadfast. Other times, you think someone is strong, sure and solid, only to find out they are more like scrambled eggs inside. Remember Magpie, the quote you can't judge a book by it's cover is just as true as people are like eggs, they come in all shapes and sizes and their makeup, their inner workings can not be defined by the outside appearance. Be careful not to crumble the shell of those around you, and be willing to let people know you aren't entirely hard boiled.
