Weekend Summary

The weekend was great.

We spent Saturday with our friends from Maryland, who you won't beleive it, moved to CT a month before us. It's a small world afterall folks. We hit their place for dinner on Saturday and it was fantastic. Whenever someone cooks a real meal it's a bonus :)

Their 3 kids, B, E, R are WONDERFUL, our life is full of friends and family with beautiful children, inside and out and we are grateful for this. We hadn't seen our friends M and D since the summer when we moved, so it was fun to catch up. We received what is likely our final FAmily/Friend square from them. They also gave Magpie an incredible set of books to go with it. The books were among their favorites that they've read to their children.

As you know, from previous posts, I love receiving books from people, their favorite books from either reading to their children or from their own childhood, it's a very special gift indeed. Here's the post from the last time when I philosophized about what Magpie's favorite's will be one day:

The post about the book "Corky"

We also got to play with tinkertoys! Who doesn't love tinkertoys? And they come plastic now, how cool is that? I built an airplane, a 'bulldozer' of some sort and then quite a few of what the girls called "amusement park rides". Too funny. All in all, it was a great time, both playing with the kids (figuring out I can 'let loose' the "corporate" persona) and seeing M and D at their new home. Really made us less homesick as we both remininsced about Maryland and talked about the coming year in CT. We hope to catch up with them to go see Monty Python's Spam-a-lot this Spring. They also really like TSO so that's cool too. Go figure, our friends M and D have a lot in common with A and D, they also work for the same company and have very similar sense of humors... creepy music in the background.

On Sunday, just another day working on the house and the yard. You know, the norm, pick up sticks for 3-4 hours, get some poison ivy, find out where the land markers are, dig up the crap that the bulldozers buried. Among the treasures, a Real Estate Sales sign (eric says we should call the company to have them come pick up their freaking sign), assorted rusted out paint cans from who knows when, glass jars and the final treasure, and the remnants of an old "post style" fence that ran just behind the front yard stone wall. They also managed at some point to 'transplant' about 15 feet of stone from the front property line stone wall, to 30 feet away... we are slowly piling up the stone we find and moving it towards where it needs to be rebuilt.

All in all, a wonderful weekend.

I love the book "Guess How Much I Love You"!

Glad you had a good time with your friends this weekend. We were ultra lazy the entire weekend and aside from some housework, we just relaxed with Guinness (the dog, not the beer).
